I had a lot of days of freaking out and feeling very non essential. Everything is up in the air, manufacturing is on pause, day by day 'normal life' activities were being cut and cancelled. How could I be part of the solution or help in any way? I researched various organizations that need help NOW. I decided to donate 25% of sales to two different, reputable organizations fighting COVID-19 on our behalf:
The first one managed by the United Nations has a global reach.
UN Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO Donations support WHO’s work to track and understand the spread of the virus; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information; and to accelerate efforts to develop vaccines, tests, and treatments.

The second organization will serve hard hit NYC, the epicenter and my beloved home:
The NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund (from The New York Community Trust, NYCT) was created to aid nonprofit service providers struggling with the health and economic effects of the coronavirus. It will give grants and loans to NYC-based nonprofits that are trying to meet the new and urgent needs that are hitting the city. Priority will be given to nonprofits addressing essential healthcare and food insecurity as well as arts and culture, because New York is the cultural capital of the nation. Since 1924, The Trust has been and continues to be a critical part of New York’s philanthropic response. The Trust co-created the September 11th Fund after the attack on the World Trade Center, and has worked on issues affecting New Yorkers for decades.

This donation will go on as needed. The experts cannot be pinned down to a date when we will have COVID-19 under control and therefore I am committed to donating to these two funds for the forseeable future.

Another way to give if you are able is with the Red Cross. Blood donors are in high demand. My appointment is set for April 9th! I am Type A+ (and trying every day to stay positive!) They also have a cool app you can download to your phone to track appointments, schedule donations, awards badges...
